Artist Lecture Response

I went to the artist lecture for Evan Ide about art and the automobile. He discussed the Bugatti family and where the company came from. The speaker went through the history of the Bugatti family and how they ended up where they did. He talked about the fact that the family was very artisitc and creattive and that when they began making cars, it was more about art than it was about engineering. Eventually Mr. Ide discussed newer models of cars as well as his experiences working for the largest car museum in the world as well as his experience with Bonham auction house. He talked about how his work at UNH lead to his work in both places.
I thought this artist lecture was really interesting because it showed students that there are a lot of benefits of getting a degree in art and the places it can lead to. It was a good opportunity for students to think out of the box about what kind of work they want to and can do after they graduate. I thought it was really interesting that Mr. Ide discussed how taking about art has a very specific vocabulary that you can use to describe what you are seeing. It translated into both of my art concentrated courses and I know that it is very true. It can be hard to explain what you see when you look at a piece of art whether it is a painting, a photograph, a car, or anything else. It was nice to hear about how many things we can do with the knowledge we take away from our art courses while we are in school.

Homework Assignment #1

(Part A)
--One moment from my life that I do not have a photograph of that I wish I did was when my cousin and I went parasailing in Bermuda. The view from above the boat was amazing. We could see the cruise ships docked as well as the beautiful surrounding scenery of Bermuda. It was a perfectly sunny day with not a cloud in the sky. We spent 10 minutes suspended in the air about the clearest water I had ever seen. In the distance we could see several different beaches and small villages on the island. I wish I could have taken photos of the amazing view we had.
--This moment was not especially important, but for photography it would have been amazing. I could have had ariel photos of one of the most amazing islands I have ever been to. The reason I do not have a photo of this moment is because I could not take my camera up in the sail for safety reasons.
